⚓ Captain's Tip: Your Cabin Location Matters

Before booking, take a minute to look at the ship's deck plans—not just the cabin category. A room directly below the pool deck, buffet, gym, or nightclub can mean early morning chair scraping or late-night noise. Cabins sandwiched between other stateroom decks are typically the quietest and often provide the best overall experience, even if they're in the same price category. Sometimes the "better deal" isn't the better cabin.

Virgin Voyages Expands to Northern Europe in 2028:

Virgin Voyages is bringing Valiant Lady to Northern Europe for the first time in 2028, sailing from Amsterdam on a brand-new season featuring Scandinavia and the Baltics. The lineup includes six itineraries with first-time port calls, highlighted by an unforgettable voyage crossing the Arctic Circle beneath the midnight sun. The expansion follows overwhelming demand, with the cruise line's 2026 Mediterranean season and inaugural Alaska sailings already sold out.

🎃 Margaritaville at Sea Brings Back Halloween Cruises:

Margaritaville at Sea is once again transforming its ships for spooky season with the return of Sail the Haunted Seas on select sailings from September 15 through November 1, 2026. Guests can look forward to haunted ship takeovers, Halloween-themed entertainment, festive cocktails, family-friendly activities, and costumed characters. New this year are an interactive Ghostly Game Show, a Halloween Bar Crawl, and special themed performers on select cruises, making these sailings a fun option for anyone looking to celebrate Halloween at sea.

Holland America Adding Solo Balcony Cabins:

Holland America Line is introducing brand-new Solo Verandah staterooms as part of its largest fleet refurbishment project in the company's history. Debuting on Oosterdam in late 2027 (with Zuiderdam to follow), these cabins are designed specifically for solo travelers and include a private balcony—a first for the cruise line. The move reflects the growing demand for premium accommodations for solo cruisers, with thoughtfully designed, space-efficient rooms that prioritize comfort and sustainability. Four additional ships are also scheduled to receive major upgrades as the Evolution project continues.

Virgin Voyages' Solar Eclipse Cruises Will Feature NASA Astronauts:

Virgin Voyages has unveiled the programming for its Solar Eclipse Voyages sailing in August 2027, and it's much more than just a cruise. Guests aboard Valiant Lady (Northern Europe) and Scarlet Lady (Mediterranean) will have the chance to learn from NASA astronauts, astrophysicists, commercial spaceflight pioneers, and leading science communicators through exclusive talks, Q&A sessions, and eclipse education events. The voyages also include eclipse photography workshops, themed shore excursions, and multiple viewing experiences—from silent observation to live expert narration—as passengers witness one of the world's most spectacular celestial events at sea.

Carnival Reveals Next-Generation Ace Class Ships:

Carnival Cruise Line has officially begun construction on its next-generation Ace Class with the steel cutting for Carnival Destiny, set to debut in summer 2029. At approximately 230,000 gross tons and carrying nearly 8,000 guests, Destiny will become the largest ship in Carnival's history. The new class is designed to bring guests closer to the ocean with a reimagined Lanai deck, 4.5 acres of glass, and more ocean-view balcony cabins than any previous Carnival ship. Carnival also says more than 70% of the ship's dining, bars, entertainment, and public spaces will feature all-new concepts, making Ace Class a major evolution for the brand. Two sister ships are already planned for 2031 and 2033, with more details expected as construction continues.
