If you're wondering why I didn't directly answer your question - the short answer is that I'm not a travel agent on commission, and my job isn't to help you save a few bucks on your next trip.
I'm a travel COACH - and my job is to get you SO MUCH MORE out of your vacation budget - that it changes your life.
So if you'd like a more detailed answer as to why I didn't directly answer the travel question you asked me...
Here is a re-post of something I wrote on National Parents' day that might help.
This post is in honor of National Parents’ day.
Growing up, my parents rarely gave my brother or me the fish on a silver platter.
Whether we wanted a fishing lesson or not - they ALWAYS “taught us to fish”.
When driving somewhere - if we were dumb enough to ask “how much loooonger?” - we were given a math assignment.
We then had to calculate exactly how long it would take based on average speed of X, and distance of Y. As soon as we solved for Z (time to destination) - my dad said he would speed up to beat that time.
When ordering pizza, my dad would walk us through the geometry skills required to figure out whether the “two medium 12 inch PIES” or the “one large 16 inch PIE” special was the better value per square inch.
(Then, after arriving at an answer my mom would say “What if you don’t like crust?”)
In college - I realized that I could live in a way cooler house if I bought a 5-bedroom house and got 4 roommates. Mom & Dad generously co-signed an FHA loan, but only after I submitted a written business plan and proposed profits & losses to them.
Don’t even get me started on my Mom’s constant help learning to remember countries, states, names, and the importance of knowing contracts backwards and forwards (including insisting that I read every word of the paperwork when buying that first home.)
My Mom & Dad gave me countless lessons that may or may not have solved my immediate problem…
But they gave me tools that would pay healthy dividends for the rest of my life.
Now, decades later, I own a travel coaching business where dozens of people a day ask to be handed a fish - to save a few bucks on their next vacation.
And if I was a travel agent on commission - I’d give them that fish on a silver platter with all the fixins.
But I’m not a travel agent.
I’m a travel coach, and I teach people to get SO MUCH MORE out of their vacation budget that it changes their life.
So if you ever ask me a question about that next trip you’re planning…
and I give a response that took me 3 to 5 times longer to say as it would have taken to just give you the answer…
Please know that I’m just trying to pay forward what two of the best mentors I ever had gave me.
Happy National Parents' day.

When you're ready to quit trying quick tips here and there that save a few bucks on your next trip (at best)...
and START getting so much more out of your vacation budget that you can fly in first-class, and stay at 5-star resorts, AND travel more often on the same vacation budget - give my book a try.

HEY, I’M JOEL…
I was already a pretty savvy “budget” traveler 12 years ago (well, I THOUGHT I was.) Now, more than a decade later, after lots of practice and trial-and-error, I've added luxury travel on points into the mix, and the days of budget vacations are long behind me.
My wife and I not only travel 2- 3 times as often for the same budget as what I used to spend, but we do so in 4 & 5-star resorts. When we fly internationally, we fly in business or first-class.
